In this guide we will cover how to reset the Arris TG852 router. Resetting a router is not the same thing as rebooting a router. A reboot consists of turning the power off the the router and turning it back on to cycle the power. Resetting a router is done easily enough but has more consequences attached to it.

Warning: A reset can cause problems if you don't know what changes. Please consider the following.

  • The router's main username and password are reset.
  • The Internet username and password are reset as well.
  • If you use a DSL connection you need to re-enter the ISP (Internet Service Provider) username and password if you want to reconnect to the Internet. For more details call your ISP.
  • All configurations that you have made are erased. This could include port forwards, firewall settings, and even IP address changes.
