Before we begin I want to differentiate between two commonly confused words (reset and reboot). When you reboot something you are only cycling the power to the device. To do this manually you would unplug the power, wait about 30 seconds, then plug the power back in. This is done to solve some minor problems the router might be having. When you reset something you take all the settings on the device and return every one of them back to factory settings. This is usually done because you have forgotten the username or password to access the router's interface. This page shows you how to reset the AudioCodes MP-264DB router back to it's original factory default settings.
Warning: Make sure you understand what you are doing before you reset this router. Problems arise when you don't know which settings were changed. Please consider the following:
- The router's interface username and password are reverted to factory settings.
- The Internet name and password are reverted to factory defaults as well.
- If you own a DSL router you need to re-enter the ISP username and password. This information can be gathered by calling your Internet Service Provider.
- Finally if you have made any other changes to your router you need to write these down so you can reconfigure them after the reset is complete.

Use a VPN Instead
Have you considered using a VPN instead of forwarding a port? For most users, a VPN is a much simpler and more secure choice than forwarding a port.
We use and recommend NordVPN because not only is it the fastest VPN, it includes a new feature called Meshnet that makes forwarding a port no longer necessary for most applications. With NordVPN Meshnet, you can connect to your devices from anywhere in the world, completely secure, over a highly encrypted VPN tunnel.
When shopping for a VPN, make sure that they meet the following criteria:
- Your VPN provider should have a no-logs policy. This means that they do not keep any logs of any kind.
- Make sure that your VPN provider has lots of exit nodes all around the world.
- Check that your VPN will not affect your speed.
- Verify that your VPN provider uses WireGuard as the underlying protocol.
- Many people prefer a VPN provider that is not based in the United States.
This is the list of requirements that we used when we were shopping around for a VPN provider. There are lots of free, shady VPN providers out there that we looked at and dismissed.
Based in Panama, using diskless servers, and with over 6,100 servers in 61 countries, we can safely say that NordVPN satisfies all of these requirements.
Once you've set up your NordVPN account on multiple computers and enabled Meshnet, you can seamlessly access all of your devices as if they were on the same network. You don't even have to log in to your router. It's very simple.
Every time you click on one of our affiliate links, such as NordVPN, we get a little kickback for introducing you to the service. Think of us as your VPN wingman.
Now that you are sure you want to reset the AudioCodes MP-264DB router you need to know where the reset button is located. For this model it is found on the back panel of the device. We have circled it's location for you in the image below.
As you can tell this button is quite small. Take the end of an unfolded paperclip or pin to press and hold the reset button down for about 10 seconds. This initiates the reset process. If you don't hold this button down for the entire amount of time you run the risk of only rebooting the router instead of resetting it like you wanted.
I can't stress enough how important it is to make sure you understand that you have to reconfigure this router after the reset process is complete. If you want to try and avoid the reconfiguration you really should try other troubleshooting methods.
Login to the AudioCodes MP-264DB

Change Your Password
Having to reset a router because you forgot your router setup username and password doesn't mean you shouldn't change the default password. These defaults are so easy to guess, just about anyone could enter your router interface and make whatever changes they wanted to. We strongly recommend changing the default password you just used. If you want we have a guide titled Choosing a Strong Password that is full of helpful tips and ideas for creating a strong and memorable password.
Tip: Obviously it's very important that you don't lo se this password. If you keep this router somewhere secure (such as your home) it's okay to write this new password down on a piece of paper and tape it to the bottom of the router so you don't lose it again.
Setup WiFi on the AudioCodes MP-264DB
The final thing I will remind you to reconfigure are the WiFi settings. These should include the SSID, the Internet password, and the security method.
