In this guide I will show you how to reset the Bandluxe R505 router back to factory defaults. There is a lot of confusion between the terms reset and reboot. To reboot a router you need to cycle it's power usually done by turning it off and back on again. No settings are changed during a reboot. On the other hand a reset is taking every single setting in your router and returning it back to factory settings.
Warning: Take caution when you reset this router because problems could occur if you don't know what changes during a reset. We suggest making a list of all the settings you have changed. Consider the following when making this list:
- The router's username and password are reverted back to factory settings.
- The WiFi settings such as SSID, password, and security method are all reverted to factory settings.
- If you use a DSL router you need to re-enter the ISP information in order to continue using the Internet. This is usually a username and password. For more information call your ISP.
- All settings you have changed are erased. This could include firewall changes, IP addresses, or even port forwards.

Reset the Bandluxe R505
Once you are ready to reset the Bandluxe R505 router make sure it remains on during the entire reset process. This means don't unplug or turn off the router during the process. Doing so could cause permanent damage to the device.
Now you need to find the tiny recessed reset button. This typically found on the back panel. We have circled it's approximate location in the image below.
Take the tip of a sharpened pencil or pen to press and hold the reset button for about 10 seconds.
This WILL erase everything you have changed on your router so it's a good idea to try other troubleshooting methods first.
