Configure your Computer to Have a Static IP Address

Port forwarding the Belkin F5D7230-4 to your computer can be more reliable if you first configure a static IP address on your computer. We have instructions to setup a static IP address for Windows 7, Windows 8, and a variety of other devices on our Static IP Address Settings page.

Login To The Belkin F5D7230-4

Forward a Port on the Belkin F5D7230-4 router

Find The Port Forwarding Section of the Belkin F5D7230-4

Once you have logged into the Belkin F5D7230-4v8 you begin on the Status page of your router. From here, click the choice on the left labeled Virtual Servers which is under the heading of Firewall.

Configure the Port Forwarding section of your Belkin F5D7230-4

Now to forward a port, make the following changes:

You are now on a page like the one you see above. In the first box labeled Enable, place a check mark.

In the next box, under Description, enter the program name, or something that helps you to remember why you are forwarding these ports.

If you are forwarding a single port, type that port number in both of the boxes labeled Inbound port and both boxes under Private port (see the screenshot for an example). If you are forwarding a range of ports, enter the lowest number of the range in the left box of both the Inbound port and Private port. Then enter the highest number of the range in the right box of both the Inbound port and Private port.

Under the heading of Type, use the drop down menu to choose the type of protocol you want to use.

Next is the Private IP Address, enter the address you are forwarding these ports to in this box. If you are forwarding a port to run a program on a computer, be sure and use that computer's IP address in this box.

Click Add at the top of the page, then Apply Changes, which is at the bottom of the page. You're done!

Test if Your Ports are Open

Now that you have forwarded ports on the Belkin F5D7230-4 you should test to see if your ports are forwarded correctly.
