How to Reset the Belkin F5D9230-4

This guide covers how to reset the Belkin F5D9230-4v5 router back to factory defaults. When resetting this router there is a lot of confusion between resetting a router and rebooting a router. When you reboot a router you are cycling the power by turning it off and back on again. Resetting is taking every setting and returning it to factory defaults.

Warning: Resetting this router is serious and if you are unsure of what settings are changed you need to make a list. We suggest including the following:

  • The router's main username and password.
  • The Internet password and SSID.
  • If you use DSL, the ISP username and password.
  • Any other settings you have ever changed such as port forwards or IP address changes.

The first step in any reset is find that tiny little reset button. It will be not only tiny but recessed as well. For this router we have found it for you and circled it in red for you in the image below.

Due to the tiny size of this reset button you need to take something sharp like an unwound paperclip or toothpick to press and hold the reset button for at least 10 seconds. If you letup sooner than 10 seconds you may only reboot the router not reset it.

Remember a reset takes all your settings and reverts them back to how they were from the factory. It's a good idea to try other troubleshooting methods first.

Login to the Belkin F5D9230-4

Now you need to login to the Belkin F5D9230-4v5 router. You need to use the default IP address, username, and password from the factory. Change Your Password

Change that default password as soon as you login for the first time after resetting. In the case of Belkin there is no password by default making it all the more important to change it as soon as possible. If you need help with a good password check out our Password Guide.

Tip: One way to avoid losing this password is to write it down on a sticky-note and attach it to the bottom of the router.
