In this guide we will explain how to reset the BSkyB Sky-Hub router to it's original factory defaults. This is not the same thing as rebooting the router. A reboot is cycling the power by unplugging the router, waiting about 30 seconds, then turning it back on. A reset is taking every setting and returning them to factory defaults.

Tip: Resetting this router can cause a lot of problems if you don't know what settings are changed. We recommend creating a list of the settings you know will be changed by this reset. We have started that list for you:

  • The router's main username and password.
  • If you use DSL you need to re-enter the ISP username and password. For more information on that you'll need to call your Internet Service Provider.
  • The Internet network name and password.
  • Have you made any other changes to this router in the past? Have you forwarded any ports? Have you changed your router's IP address? All changes you have made will be erased. You will need to reconfigure them after the reset process is complete.

Reset the BSkyB Sky-Hub

Press and hold the reset button until the power light flashes on and off four times then stays on. This takes about 10 seconds. If you don't allow the power light to flash a total of four times it will only reboot the router instead of resetting it as desired.

Please remember that this reset will erase every setting you have ever changed on this device. It might be a good idea to consider other troubleshooting methods before you reset.

Login to the BSkyB Sky-Hub

Once you have finished resetting the BSkyB Sky-Hub router you need to login to it using the factory default IP Address, username, and password. This information can be found several places. One of those places is in our free Login Guide for the BSkyB Sky-Hub.

Change Your Password

It is now highly recommended that you change the default password you use to access your router's interface. If this is not something that comes easily for you use our Choosing a Strong Password guide for ideas and tips on creating a strong password.

Tip: Once you have changed the password for your router you need to have it readily available in case you need it again. If the BSkyB Sky-Hub is in your home it's fine to write it on a post it note and stick it to the bottom of the device.
