Setup WiFi on the Buffalo WCR-GN

Before we get started there is a little bit of background info that you should be familiar with.

Login To The Buffalo WCR-GN

The wireless setup guide for the Buffalo WCR-GN router begins on the Setup page. Start off by clicking Wireless Config near the top of the page. Then click Basic(11n/g/b) beneath that.

Change the WiFi Settings on the Buffalo WCR-GN

First, open the drop down menu labeled Wireless Channel and set it to either 1, 6, or 11. To learn why these are the best options, take a look at our WiFi Channels Guide.

Now, beneath the SSID1 heading, you'll need to set your SSID. Select the radio button labeled Enter and then enter your desired network name into the provided box. This can be anything you like, however, due to security reasons, we strongly recommend that you avoid any sort of personal information. Next, set the Encryption to AES.

Lastly, you'll need to set a WPA2-PSK(Pre-Shared Key). This will be your network password and can be anything you like. However, we know that a strong password can be difficult to think up on your own, so we've created a guide to help you out.

That's it! You're done. Just be sure to click Apply before leaving the page.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
