Setup WiFi on the Compal CH7465LG-LC

The Compal CH7465LG-LC router is considered a wireless router because it offers WiFi connectivity. WiFi, or simply wireless, allows you to connect various devices to your router, such as wireless printers, smart televisions, and WiFi enabled smartphones.

WiFi Terms

Before we get started there is a little bit of background info that you should be familiar with.

Wireless Name

Your wireless network needs to have a name to uniquely identify it from other wireless networks. If you are not sure what this means we have a guide explaining what a wireless name is that you can read for more information.

An important part of securing your wireless network is choosing a strong password.

Picking a WiFi channel is not always a simple task. Be sure to read about WiFi channels before making the choice.

Encryption

Login To The Compal CH7465LG-LC

To get started configuring the Compal CH7465LG-LC WiFi settings you need to login to your router. If you are already logged in you can skip this step.

Begin by clicking the option labeled Advanced settings in the left sidebar.

This opens a new menu. Choose Wireless, then Security.

You should now see a page like the one above.

Enter the following information into either 2.4GHz WiFi configuration or 5GHz WiFi configuration.

2.4GHz will give you a bigger wireless range with a little slower data rate. 5GHz will give you a smaller wireless range with a little faster data rate.

  • WiFi Network Name (SSID): This is the name you give your network to personalize it. We recommend avoiding personal information. Learn more on our Change your Wireless Name page.
  • Security: There are several different choices here. We recommend using WPA2-PSK. Learn what this means and what your other options are on our WEP vs. WPA page.
  • WiFi password (security key): This is the password for your Internet. Create a strong random looking password. We recommend using at least 10 characters with a mix of numbers, symbols, letters (upper and lower case). Learn more on our Creating a Strong Password page.

When you are finished click the blue Apply changes button to save your work.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
