Configure your Computer to Have a Static IP Address

Port forwarding the Dlink AirPlus DI-624 to your computer can be more reliable if you first configure a static IP address on your computer. We have instructions to setup a static IP address for Windows 7, Windows 8, and a variety of other devices on our Static IP Address Settings page.

Please note that while setting up a static IP address on your computer is optional, it is still a very good idea to go ahead and do it. In the long run it will make your port forward much more reliable.

Login To The Dlink AirPlus DI-624

To get started forwarding a port you need to login to your Dlink AirPlus DI-624 router. If you are already logged in you can skip this step.

Forward a Port on the Dlink AirPlus DI-624 router

Find The Port Forwarding Section of the Dlink AirPlus DI-624

This is the setup page from your Dlink AirPlus DI-624 router.

Starting on the Home page of the Dlink DI-624v5 router, click the Advanced tab at the top of the page.

This creates a new list of links in the left sidebar. Tick Virtual Server.

Configure the Port Forwarding section of your Dlink AirPlus DI-624

Now to forward a port, make the following changes:

This router only allows for single port forwards. If you need to forward more than one port, you will need to create a new configuration for each port.

  • Tick the Enabled radio button.
  • Then, enter the name of the program you are forwarding this port for in the Name box. This is for your future reference only.
  • Next, in the Private IP box, enter the internal IP address of the computer you are forwarding this port to.
  • Below that is the Protocol. Use this drop down menu to choose the type of protocol you need to use to forward this port.
  • Enter the port number you are wanting to forward in the box labeled Private Port. Enter that same number in the Public Port box also.
  • Tick the option of Always next to Schedule.
  • Click Apply, in green.

Test if Your Ports are Open

Now that you have forwarded ports on the Dlink AirPlus DI-624 you should test to see if your ports are forwarded correctly.
