Before we get started there is a little bit of background info that you should be familiar with.

An important part of securing your wireless network is choosing a strong password.

Picking a WiFi channel is not always a simple task. Be sure to read about WiFi channels before making the choice.
Encryption
You should almost definitely pick WPA2 for your networks encryption. If you are unsure, be sure to read our WEP vs WPA guide first.
Login To The Dlink DCS-1130
To get started configuring the Dlink DCS-1130 WiFi settings you need to login to your router. If you are already logged in you can skip this step.

Find the WiFi Settings on the Dlink DCS-1130
If you followed our login guide above then you should see this screen.
You begin on the DEVICE INFO page of the Dlink DCS-1130 router. To configure the WiFi settings click the link on the top of the page labeled SETUP. Then on the left side of the page click Wireless Setup.
Change the WiFi Settings on the Dlink DCS-1130
This takes you to a page like the one you see here. First, find the box labeled SSID. This is the name you give your local network so that you can identify it later on. We advise avoiding personal information. To learn more about this, read our Wireless Names Guide.
Use the Channel drop down list to choose from channel 1,6, or 11. Read more about this in our WiFi Channels Guide.
Use the Authentication drop down list to choose WPA2-PSK. This is the best option, to learn why, read our WEP vs. WPA Guide.
Next is the Key. This is the password you use to gain access to your network. We recommend at least 20 characters here. Learn how to create a strong and memorable password, read our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.
That's it, just click Save Settings and you are finished.
Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings
After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
