Before we get started there is a little bit of background info that you should be familiar with.

Picking a WiFi channel is not always a simple task. Be sure to read about WiFi channels before making the choice.
Encryption
You should almost definitely pick WPA2 for your networks encryption. If you are unsure, be sure to read our WEP vs WPA guide first.
Login To The Dlink DI-764
To get started configuring the Dlink DI-764 WiFi settings you need to login to your router. If you are already logged in you can skip this step.

Find the WiFi Settings on the Dlink DI-764
If you followed our login guide above then you should see this screen.
You should be on the Home page of the Dlink DI-764.
To configure the WiFi settings, click the link in the left sidebar labeled Wireless.
Change the WiFi Settings on the Dlink DI-764
To begin, change the SSID to a name of your choosing. This is the name you give your network so you can figure out which one is yours when needed. Be creative, but avoid using personal information. Learn more by reading our Wireless Names Guide.
Next, is the Channel. Choose from channel 1,6, or 11. Learn why this is important by reading our WiFi Channels Guide.
This router only has WEP security. This is an old form of security which is extremely out of date. WEP can be cracked very easily. We recommend that you update your firmware version to allow for WPA2-PSK. Learn more about WPA2 in this guide.
When you are finished with the changes on this page, click the Apply button.
Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings
After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
