Configure your Computer to Have a Static IP Address

Port forwarding the Dlink DI-LB604 to your computer can be more reliable if you first configure a static IP address on your computer. We have instructions to setup a static IP address for Windows 7, Windows 8, and a variety of other devices on our Static IP Address Settings page.

Please note that while setting up a static IP address on your computer is optional, it is still a very good idea to go ahead and do it. In the long run it will make your port forward much more reliable.

Now that you are on the Virtual Server page, place a checkmark in the Enable box.

It doesn't really matter what you enter in the Server Name box, but we suggest entering the name of the program you are forwarding these ports for.

Next is the Private IP. Here you need to enter the local IP address of the specific computer you are forwarding these ports to. What is my IP Address is a great guide on how to find your computer's local address if you are unsure of how to proceed.

The Protocol Type is next. Select the type of protocol you need to use from this drop down menu.

To forward a single port, just enter that port number into the left and right Private Port Range boxes, and the left and right Public Port Range boxes. To forward a range of ports, enter the lowest number of the range in the left box of both the Private Port Range, and the Public Port Range. Likewise, enter the highest number of the range in the right box of both the Private Port Range, and the Public Port Range.

Select the choice of All from the drop down menu of Interface Binding.

The Allowed Remote IP From and To should both be set to 0.0.0.0

Finally, tick the green checkmark labeled Apply.

Congratulations, you did it!
