Next is the Wireless Channel. To change it, uncheck the box next to Enable Auto Channel Scan. Then, in the Wireless Channel drop down menu and choose channel 1,6, or 11. To learn why these channels are important, read the guide by clicking this link..
Now find the Security Mode. Choose WPA-Personal from the drop down list. This is the best choice available to home networks. To learn more about the different security modes, read our WEP vs. WPA Guide.
Set the WPA Mode to WPA2 Only.
Next to Cipher Mode, select TKIP, AES, or Auto. We recommend using AES. This is the best encryption for home networks.
Finally, you should change is the Pre-Shared Key. This is the password you use to gain access to your network. Create a strong password using letters, symbols, and numbers. To learn more about this topic, read Choosing a Strong Password Guide.
That's all there is to it, click the Save Settings button and that's all there is to it.
After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
