This takes you to a page like the one you see here. Click the option in the center section titled Manual Wireless Connection Setup (it's close to the bottom of the page.)

The first thing on this new page you need to do is change the Wireless Network Name (SSID). This is the name you create to identify your network. Be creative but avoid personal information. To learn more about this topic, read our guide titled Wireless Names.

If you want to change the channel you broadcast on, first uncheck the box labeled Enable Auto Channel Scan. Then, use the box titled Wireless Channel to choose the channel you want to use. Make sure you use one of three channels, 1,6, or 11. To learn why this is important, read our guide titled WiFi Channels.

Next, drop down to the next section and use the Security Mode drop down menu to choose the option of WPA-Personal. There are several different options in this menu, if you're interested in learning the differences, read our WEP vs. WPA Guide.

Use the WPA Mode menu to choose the strongest option of WPA2 Only.

The last setting you need to change is the Pre-Shared Key. This is the password you use to gain access to your wireless network. We recommend using at least 14-20 characters in length. We've created a guide titled Choosing a Strong Password to help you.

Click Apply Settings to save your changes, you also need to restart the router in order for these changes to take effect.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
