Setup WiFi on the Dlink DSM-G600v2

This guide begins on the Home page of the Dlink DSM-G600v2 router. To change your wireless network settings click Wireless on the left hand side of the page.

Change the WiFi Settings on the Dlink DSM-G600v2

You should be taken to the page shown above.

Begin by setting an SSID. This will serve as your network identification and can be whatever you want. However, due to security reasons we highly recommend avoiding the use of any personal information. For more on this topic visit our Wireless Names Guide.

Next is the Channel. This needs to be set to either 1, 6, or 11. Want to know why these are the best options? Read our WiFi Channels Guide to find out.

After that open the drop down menu labeled Security Mode and choose WPA2-PSK. This option will provide you with the best security. Why? Check out our WEP vs. WPA Guide to learn more. If the option WPA2-PSK is not an option, we highly recommend updating your firmware.

Finally, a setting labeled Passphrase will appear. This will be the password that protects your wireless network, so be sure that it's strong. Some good guidelines to follow are keeping it 14-20 characters in length and avoiding the use of any personal information. That's it! You're finished. Just don't forget to click Apply before closing the page.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
