Setup WiFi on the Dlink DVG-N5402SP

Starting on the Status page of the Dlink DVG-N5402SP router, click the link near the top of the page labeled SETUP.

This opens a new set of choices in the left sidebar. Pick Wireless Setup from the sidebar. If another sub-menu appears, click Wireless Basic.

Change the WiFi Settings on the Dlink DVG-N5402SP

The first thing you need to change is the Wireless Network Name (SSID). This is the name you give your network so that you can identify your network when needed. Be creative but avoid personal information. For more on this topic, click this link.

Click the ong>Apply button at the bottom of the page.

Now go back to the left sidebar and click the option of Wireless Setup. In the sub menu that pops up, click the option of Wireless Security.

In the drop down menu titled Wireless Security Mode click the option of WPA2 Only To learn why this is the best choice, click this link.

For WPA Mode, choose WPA2 Personal.

Choose AES for the Encryption Mode.

The last thing you need to do is change the Pre-Shared Key. This is the password you use to access your network. We recommend using 14-20 characters and a mix of symbols, numbers, and letters. To learn more read our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.

That's it, just click the Apply button and you are finished.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
