How to Reset the Dlink DWR-923

On this page I will be showing you how to reset the Dlink DWR-923 router back to the original factory defaults. This is not the same thing as a reboot. When I use the word reboot I am referring to a cycle in the power to the device. When I use the word reset I am referring to a complete erasure of all settings. All personal configurations are reverted back to factory defaults.

Warning: Resetting this router is a big step and should not be taken lightly. We recommend making a list of all the settings you have ever changed in the past. Consider the following:

Reset the Dlink DWR-923

Begin a reset by finding the reset button. On the Dlink DWR-923 model you can find the reset button on the back panel of the device. I have circled it's location for you in the image below.

With the router on, take a straight paperclip and press down on the reset button for about 10 seconds to start the reset process. If you don't hold this down for the entire 10 seconds you might end up only rebooting the router instead of resetting it like you wanted.

Don't forget that this reset is going to erase every single setting you have ever changed on this device. We recommend trying other troubleshooting methods before you decide to reset the Dlink DWR-923 router.

Login to the Dlink DWR-923

Following that you'll need to log into your Dlink DWR-923 router. This is done by using the factory default username and password. Not sure where to find these? We have them listed for your use in our Login Guide.

Tip: If the defaults aren't logging you in it could be because the reset button wasn't held down for long enough.

Change Your Password

Now that you've logged into your router we suggest setting a new password for it. This can be anything you want it to be, however keep in mind that a strong password includes no personal information and is 14-20 characters in length. For more help check out our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.

Tip: Avoid losing your new password by writing it on a sticky note and attaching it to the bottom of your router.
