This page will show you how to properly reset the Dlink TM-G5240 router back to how it was from the factory. A reset like this is not the same thing as a reboot. When you reboot this router you only cycle it's power. This is helpful if you are having minor behavioral problems with your router but not if you have forgotten the router's access username and password. When you reset this router you take all the settings and return all of them back to how they were from the factory.

Warning: A reset may be what you need to do but be sure you understand that this reset erases every single setting you have ever changed on the device. We recommend making a list of any settings you can think of that you may have forgotten. Consider the following:

  • The router's main username and password are erased and returned to factory defaults.
  • The Internet name and password are also erased and returned to factory defaults.
  • If this is a DSL router you need to re-enter the ISP (Internet Service Provider) username and password. To find out what these are you should call your local ISP.
  • Have you ever made any other changes to this router? Have you ever forwarded any ports? Have you ever changed an IP address?
