Setup WiFi on the Draytek Vigor-2710

Login To The Draytek Vigor-2710

This WiFi guide begins on the System Status page of the DrayTek Vigor-2710 router. To setup your wireless connection, click the link in the blue sidebar titled Wireless LAN. Then under that pick General Setup.

Change the WiFi Settings on the Draytek Vigor-2710

You should now be on a page like the one you see here.

  1. Make sure that the Enable Wireless LAN box is checked.
  2. In the Mode drop down menu choose Mixed (11b+11g+11n). This means you can connect wireless devices from 1999 forward.
  3. Next is the SSID. This is your identification. It doesn't matter what you type in this box as long as it is memorable. Learn more by clicking this link.
  4. The Channel is next. By default you are on channel 6. This is a common default channel which may mean you will receive interference from other nearby networks. If you need to change the channel, be sure it is either 1,6, or 11. To learn why you should only use one of these three channels, click this link.
  5. Tick the option of OK at the bottom of the page.

Now highlight the option in the left sidebar labeled Security.

  1. Use the Mode drop down menu to choose the option of WPA2/PSK. To learn why this is the best option for your network, read our Wireless Names Guide.
  2. Now enter a Pre-Shared Key (PSK). This is the wireless password you use to access your home network. This password is used in the encryption method and needs to be strong to protect your private info. We recommend using at least 14 characters in your password. The more random your password looks, the better it is. To help you create a strong and memorable password, click this link.
  3. Click the OK button at the bottom of the page when you are finished. You may need to restart your router before these changes take effect.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
