How to Reset the Draytek Vigor-2920

On this page I will be showing you how to reset the Draytek Vigor-2920 router back to factory defaults. This is not the same thing as a reboot. When I use the term reboot I am referring to a cycle in the power to the unit. When I use the word reset I am referring to a complete factory restore of all settings.

Warning: This means every single setting you have ever changed is erased and reverted back to factory defaults. We strongly recommend making a list of any settings you may of changed in the lifetime of this router. Things to consider are:

  • The main username and password of the Draytek Vigor-2920 router are erased and reverted back to how they were when they left the factory.
  • The Internet name and password are reverted back to how they were when they left the factory.
  • If this is a DSL router you need to re-enter the ISP or Internet Service Provider username and password. If you need to know more information call your local ISP.
  • Have you ever made any other changes to your device? If so you need to re-enter these after the reset is finished.

It is now time to find the reset button on the Draytek Vigor-2920 unit. As you can see from the image below it is located on the front panel.

While the router is on, take a straightened paperclip and press down on the reset button for about 5 seconds. Press this button down until the ACT light begins to flash faster. If you don't hold this button down for long enough you end up only rebooting the device instead of resetting it like you wanted.

Remember this reset is going to erase every single setting you have ever changed on this device. We strongly recommend trying other methods of troubleshooting before you continue.

Login to the Draytek Vigor-2920

Following that you'll need to log into your Draytek Vigor-2920 router. Do this by using the factory default username and password listed for your use in our Login Guide.

Change Your Password

Now that you've reset and logged into your router we suggest setting a new password for it. Keep in mind that this password will only protect your router settings, not your wireless network. Still, setting a strong password is always a good idea. For help in doing so be sure to check out our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.

Tip: Keep from losing your new password by writing it on a sticky note and attaching it to the bottom of your router.
