Change the WiFi Settings on the Draytek Vigor 2930n
This takes you to a page where you'll see a page with the information you see above. The two settings you may need to change on this page are the SSID and the Channel.
To change the SSID make sure there is a checkmark in the Enable box next to number 1. Then in the box under the heading of SSID enter a new name for your network. Your SSID is how you identify your network. Learn all about the SSID in our guide titled Wireless Names.
If your Internet seems slower than it should you might need to change the WiFi Channel. This is the channel you transmit your wireless network on. Learn all about this topic in our WiFi Channels guide. Make sure when you change your channel you only use channels 1, 6 or 11.
When you are finished with the changes go ahead and click OK. Then back in the left hand sidebar click the option of Security under the heading of Wireless LAN.
This should bring you to a page similar to the one you see above.
Since you made your SSID changes in the number 1 box on the previous page, choose the tab of SSID 1.
The first setting you need to change is the Mode. This is the security you will use to encrypt your transmissions. The strongest encryption right now you can use for home networks is WPA2/PSK. Find out what this is in our guide titled WEP vs. WPA.
Now you need to setup an Internet password. This protect your Internet connection and helps with the encryption. Create a strong complex password by following our guidelines in the Choosing a Strong Password guide.
Click OK to save your changes. Congratulations, your local network is now secure.
Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings
After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
