On this page I will be showing you how to reset the DrayTek Vigor2860n-plus router back to the original factory defaults. A reset like this is not the same thing as a reboot. When you reboot a router you cycle the power to the unit. When you reset a router you take all the settings and return them all to factory defaults.
Warning: A reset like this is a big step and should not be taken lightly. We recommend making a list of all the settings you may of changed in the past. The following should be included in your list.
- The router's main username and password.
- The Internet name and password.
- If this is a DSL router you need to re-enter the ISP username and password. You'll need to call your ISP for this information.
- If you have ever made any other changes make sure to write these down as well.

Reset the Draytek Vigor2860n-plus
Take a look at the image below. Your DrayTek Vigor2860n-plus router should look very similar to this. The reset button is in the lower left corner of the page.
Take a straightened paperclip and press down on the reset button for about 5 seconds until the ACT light begins to flash faster than before. This begins the reset process. If you don't hold the reset button down for long enough you end up only rebooting the router instead of resetting it.
Remember this will erase every setting you have ever changed on your device. We strongly recommend exhausting your other methods of troubleshooting before you decide to reset.
Login to the Draytek Vigor2860n-plus
Once you've successfully reset the DrayTek Vigor2860n-plus router you'll want to log into it. This is done by using the factory default username and password. Don't know where you can find these? We have them listed for your use in our Login Guide.
Tip: If the defaults aren't logging you in it could be because the reset button wasn't held down for long enough.
Change Your Password
Following that we recommend setting a new password for it. This can be anything you want it to be, however bear in mind that a strong password includes no personal information and is 14-20 characters in length. For more help be sure to take a look through our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.
Tip: Prevent yourself from losing your new password by writing it on a sticky note and attaching it to the bottom of your router.
