You are now on the Wireless > Security page. Use the Security Mode drop down menu to choose the option of WPA/WPA2 Personal (PSK). There are several options available to you here and if you want to know what they mean, read our WEP vs. WPA Guide.

Next is the Authentication. We recommend using WPA2-PSK.

This automatically changes the Encryption Technique to AES. This is considered the most secure form of encryption available today.

After that is the Password (PSK). This is the password you use when you want to connect to your local network through the router. We recommend using at least 14-20 characters. Do not use any real words or any personal information. We recommend using a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols. To learn more about creating a strong and memorable password, read our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.

Tick the Apply Changes button when you are done.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
