On this new page the first drop down menu is titled Encryption. The newest and most secure form of encryption is WPA pre-shared key. To learn what some of the other options are, check out our WEP vs. WPA Guide.

Narrow down the WPA choice in the next line titled WPA Unicast Cipher Suite. Tick the bullet labeled WPA(AES).

The type of pre-shared key is next. This is labeled Pre-shared Key Format. Choose the option in the drop down menu labeled Passphrase.

In the Pre-shared Key box enter the passphrase or password you want to use to grant access to the internet through your router. We recommend using at least 14-20 characters. The longer the password is the stronger it becomes. Take a look at our guide by clicking this link.

When you are finished making all the necessary changes, tick the Apply button.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
