Are you having trouble with your router and can't login to fix the problem? You may need to reset the Edimax BR-6504n router back to it's original defaults.

Do you know the difference between a reset and a reboot?

  • Reboot - This is a simple cycle in the power to the unit. This is done if you are having behavioral problems with the router. No settings are changed when you reboot or restart the router.
  • Reset - Every setting you have ever changed is erased in a reset. A reset is a complete factory restore of all settings.

Warning: Resetting this router is a big step and should not be taken lightly. Please make a list of all setting you have changed in the past, such as:

  • The router's main username and password.
  • The Internet name and password.
  • The ISP username and password if you have a DSL router. Call your ISP for the details.
  • Don't forget about the port forwards, IP address changes, DNS server settings, parental controls...etc.

Login to the Edimax BR-6504N

Once you've reset and logged into the Edimax BR-6504n router you'll want to log into it. This is done by using the factory default username and password. Not sure where to find these? We have them listed for you in our Login Guide.

Tip: If the defaults aren't logging you in it might be because the reset button wasn't held down for long enough.

Change Your Password

Now that you've logged into the router we suggest setting a new password for it. This can be anything you want it to be, however keep in mind that a strong password contains no personal information and is 14-20 characters in length. For more help be sure to visit our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.

Tip: Keep yourself from losing your new password by writing it on a sticky note and attaching it to the bottom of your router.
