Are you locked out of your router interface? Have you tried everything to access the router? You might need to reset the Edimax BR6428n router.

There is a lot of confusion between a reset and a reboot. A lot of people use these two terms interchangeably. What is the difference between a reset and a reboot?

  • Reboot - A reboot is a simple cycle in the power to the device. This is done by removing the power, waiting 15 seconds and plugging the power back in. No settings are changed during a reboot.
  • Reset - A reset is a complete factory restore of all the settings you have changed in the past. This means every single setting you have ever changed is erased and reverted back to factory default.

Warning: This reset is a big step and should not be taken lightly. We strongly recommend that you try other methods of troubleshooting before you decide you want to reset the Edimax BR6428n router. Make a list of all the settings that you know you have changed in the past such as:

  • The router username and password.
  • The Internet name and password.
  • If this is a DSL router you need to re-enter the ISP (Internet Service Provider) username and password. Call your local ISP for the details.
  • Have you ever made any other changes to your router such as port forwards? You'll need to write these down as well.
