If you are having trouble logging into the Encore ENHWI-N2 router you may need to reset the device back to the original factory defaults. This is not the same thing as a reboot. A reboot is a simple cycle in the power to the unit. A reset is a complete factory restore of all settings. This means every single setting you have ever changed is erased and returned to factory defaults.

Warning: A reset like this one is a big step. Don't take this lightly. We strongly recommend making a list of any settings you may of changed in the past such as:

  • The router's access username and password.
  • The WiFi information such as network name and password.
  • If this is a DSL router you need to re-enter the ISP (Internet Service Provider) username and password. Call your ISP for these details.
  • Any other settings such as port forwards or IP address changes are erased and need to be reconfigured after the reset is complete.

While the router is on, take a straightened paperclip and press down on the reset button for about 10 seconds. This begins the reset process. Make sure to hold the reset button down for the entire 10 seconds or you might end up only rebooting the router instead of resetting it.

Remember a reset like this one is going to erase every single setting you have ever changed. We strongly recommend trying other options before you decide on a reset.

Login to the Encore ENHWI-N2

Following that you'll need to log into your Encore ENHWI-N2 router. This is accomplished by using the factory default username and password provided for your use in our Login Guide.

Tip: Defaults not logging you in? It might be because the reset button wasn't held down for long enough.

Change Your Password

Once you've reset and logged into your router we recommend setting a new password for it. This can be anything you want it to be, however keep in mind that a strong password is 14-20 characters in length and includes no personal information. Tip: Prevent yourself from losing your new password by writing it on a slip of paper and taping it to the underside of your router.
