A factory reset puts your FRITZ!Box router back to its default settings, including the default login.

Before You Reset

A reset erases your WiFi name and password, Internet login and port forwards, so write them down. A restart (power off for 30 seconds) keeps all your settings.

Method 1: Without a Reset Button

Most FRITZ!Box models have no reset button. If you can't log in, you can still reset it:

  • From a phone plugged into the FRITZ!Box: dial #99115901590 and hang up after about 3 seconds.
  • From the login page: click Forgot password? and follow the steps to restore the factory settings (you need to press a button on the FRITZ!Box to confirm).

Method 2: Reset From the Web Interface

Log in, go to System > Backup > Factory Settings and confirm.

After the Reset

Log in at http://192.168.178.1 (or http://fritz.box) with the defaults (see the FRITZ!Box login guide), set a new admin password, and set up your WiFi and Internet connection again.
