A factory reset puts your Hitron gateway back to its default settings, including the default WiFi name, WiFi key and admin password.

Before You Reset

Write down your WiFi details and any port forwards. The cable connection itself is set up by your ISP, so it comes back on its own after a reset. A restart (power off for 30 seconds) fixes most problems without erasing anything.

Method 1: The Reset Button

  1. With the gateway on, press and hold the Reset button on the back for about 30 seconds.
  2. Let go and wait up to 5 minutes for the gateway to restart and reconnect to the cable network.

A short press of a few seconds only restarts the gateway. Hold the button for the full 30 seconds to reset it.

Method 2: Reset From the Web Interface

Log in, go to Admin > Device Reset (or Admin > Management), and click Factory Reset.

After the Reset

Connect with the default WiFi details on the label. Log in with the defaults (see the Hitron login guide) and set up your WiFi again.
