Have you tried unsuccessfully to login to the Huawei BM635 router? It might be time to consider a reset of the Huawei BM635 router back to the original factory defaults.

A reset like the one shown on this page is not the same thing as a reboot. When you reboot the router you cycle the power to the unit. When you reset the router you take all the settings you have changed and erase them. They are then returned to how they were from the factory.

Warning: This reset is a big step and should not be taken lightly. It's a good idea to make a list of the possible settings you have changed in the past. Some of these settings are:

  • The router's main username and password.
  • The WiFi information such as SSID and password.
  • The ISP (Internet Service Provider) username and password if this is a DSL router. You need to call your ISP for this information.
  • port forwards or IP addresses should also be written down as they are also erased.

While the router remains on, take a bent paperclip and press down on the reset button for a full 8 seconds. If you don't hold this reset down for at least 8 seconds you will end up rebooting the device instead of resetting it like you wanted.

Remember this reset erases every single setting you have ever changed on the device. We recommend trying other methods first before continuing with this reset.

Login to the Huawei BM635

After you've reset the Huawei BM635 router you'll want to log into it. This is done by using the factory default username and password. Don't know where you can find these? We have them listed for your use in our Login Guide.

Tip: If the defaults aren't working for you it might be because the reset button wasn't held down for long enough.

Change Your Password

Once you've reset and logged into your router we recommend setting a new password for it. This can be anything you like, however keep in mind that a strong password is 14-20 characters in length and includes no personal information. For more help be sure to take a look through our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.

Tip: Afraid of losing your new password? Try writing it on a slip of paper and taping it to the underside of your router.
