Have you tried to login to the Huawei DR814 router and been unsuccessful? It might be time for a reset. This is not the same thing as a reboot. When you reboot the router you are simply cycling the power to the unit. When you reset the router you are taking all the settings and returning them all to factory defaults. This means every single setting you have ever changed is erased and returned to factory defaults.

Warning: Resetting a router is a big step and should not be taken lightly. There is a lot to consider before you decide to reset the Huawei DR814 router. Things you may not of considered are:

  • The router's main username and password are erased and returned to how they were from the factory.
  • If you have ever forwarded any ports or changed any IP addresses they are erased.

This is the reset page from your Huawei DR814 router.

While the router is on, take a bent paperclip and press down on the reset button for at least 8 seconds. If you do not hold this reset button down for long enough you will end up rebooting the router instead of resetting it.

Remember this reset is erasing every single setting you have ever changed in the lifetime of this device. We strongly recommend trying other troubleshooting methods before continuing.

Login to the Huawei DR814

Now that you've successfully reset the Huawei DR814 router you'll want to log into it. This is done by using the factory default username and password. Not sure where you can find these? We have them provided for your use in our Login Guide.

Tip: If the defaults aren't working for you it might be because the reset button wasn't held down for long enough.

Change Your Password

After you've reset and logged into your router we suggest setting a new password for it. This can be whatever you like, however keep in mind that a strong password is 14-20 characters in length and includes no personal information. For more help be sure to take a look through our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.

Tip: Avoid losing your new password by writing it on a slip of paper and taping it to the underside of your router.
