This article covers how to reset the Huawei E5770 router back to factory default settings. This is not the same thing as rebooting a router. Turning a router off and back on again causes a reboot. Resetting a router erases all settings from it and returns it to factory defaults.
Warning: Make sure that you fully understand the following before resetting your router. A router reset will affect the following settings:
- The router's username and password are reset.
- All WiFi login information and network names are reset.
- If your router has any ISP settings they will be removed, and you will have to contact your ISP.
- Any firewall settings, parental controls, and port forwards that you have configured will be removed.
A router reset should be considered the last resort when you cannot log in to your router any other way. Before you reset your router you may want to try recovering your router password with our Router Password Finder.

Reset the Huawei E5770
Most routers have a small button on either the back or the bottom. Look at your router and try to find something that looks like this:
Yours may look slightly different, but they are usually tiny. You might find a pinhole on the back of the router that requires a paper clip to push the button hidden under it.
Hold the reset button down for about 10 seconds while watching the lights on the front of your router. You should notice that the blinking pattern of the lights on the front of the router changes after a few seconds. Keep holding the button as long as you want, it will not hurt anything to hold it down too long.
Keep in mind that this will completely reset your Huawei E5770 router.
