Setup WiFi on the Huawei E5776

Login To The Huawei E5776

This guide begins on the Home page of the Huawei E5776 router. To configure the WiFi settings, click the link at the top of the page labeled Settings. Then on the left, choose the option of WLAN and WLAN Basic Settings.

You should now be on the page you see here. The first box is titled SSID. This is the name you give your network so that you can identify it later on. While this name can be anything you like, we recommend avoiding personal information. Learn more by reading our Wireless Names Guide.

Below that is the 802.11 authentication. This is the security you plan on using for your network. The best option is WPA2-PSK. Learn why by reading our WEP vs. WPA guide.

Next is the Encryption mode. Set this to AES.

Under that you have the WPA pre-shared key. This is the password you plan on using for your local network. We recommend creating a strong password of at least 14-20 characters. Learn more tips about creating a strong password by reading our guide titled Choosing a Strong Password.

Then click the Apply button.

Now click WLAN Advanced Settings in the left sidebar.

On this page, find the option of Channel. Use this drop down list to make sure you are using the channel of 1,6, or 11. Learn why you should use these three channels by reading our guide titled WiFi Channels.

Click the Apply button at the bottom of the page before you exit.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
