Starting on the System Information page of the Huawei Echolife-HG520b router click the link in the left sidebar labeled Basic. Then under that choose the option of Wireless LAN.

Change the WiFi Settings on the Huawei EchoLife HG520b

Find the setting titled Channel ID. In the drop down list choose the country where you are using this router. Then below that use the drop down list to pick the correct channel for your network. Below that is the Authentication Type. The best option here is WPA2-PSK. Learn why this is the best option by reading our guide titled WEP vs. WPA.

Choose the option of AES for the Encryption.

The last thing that needs to be changed is the Pre-Shared Key. This is the password that you use to grant or deny access to your local internet. This password should contain at least 14-20 characters in it. Try to use some symbols and numbers in your password as well. Learn more tips by reading our guide titled Choosing a Strong Password.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
