While the router remains on, take a pin or bent paperclip and press down on the reset button for approximately 10 seconds to start the reset process. If you don't hold the reset button down for the entire 10 seconds you might end up rebooting the router instead of resetting it like you wanted.

Please remember this sort of reset is erasing every personal setting you have changed in the router's interface. We strongly recommend trying other methods of troubleshooting before you decide to reset.

Login to the Huawei EchoLife HG520v

Once you've reset the Huawei EchoLife-HG520v router you'll want to log into it. This is accomplished by using the factory default username and password. Not sure where you can find these? We have them provided for your use in our Login Guide.

Tip: If the defaults aren't logging you in it could be because the reset button wasn't held down for long enough.

Change Your Password

Now that you've successfully logged into your router we suggest setting a new password for it. This can be anything you like, however keep in mind that a strong password is 14-20 characters in length and includes no personal information. For more help be sure to visit our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.

Tip: Prevent yourself from losing your new password by writing it on a slip of paper and taping it to the bottom of your router.
