Setup WiFi on the Huawei EchoLife HG520v

Login To The Huawei EchoLife HG520v

Find the WiFi Settings on the Huawei EchoLife HG520v

If you followed our login guide above then you should see this screen.

Once you have logged into the Huawei EchoLife-HG520v router you should see the page above. On the left side of the page there is a list of settings running down the page. Click the option labeled Wireless.

Then beneath that pick the new option of Basic.

Change the WiFi Settings on the Huawei EchoLife HG520v

  • Put a checkmark in the box labeled Enable Wireless.
  • Type in a new name for your network connection in the box labeled SSID. This is your wireless name. Enter a unique name here. For security purposes don't use personal information or router specific information in this name. Learn more in our wireless names guide.

Click the Save/Apply button near the bottom of the page. Then in the left sidebar click the option of Security.

You should now see the page above.

  • Using the Network Authentication drop down menu choose the option of WPA2-PSK. This is the strongest form of security available today. Learn more in our guide titled WEP vs. WPA.
  • Next is the WPA Pre-Shared Key. This is the password you use for the Internet. Make sure this is a strong password. We recommend at least 14 characters here. For ideas and tips check out our Choosing a Strong Password guide.
  • Finally in the WPA Encryption drop down menu choose the option of AES.

When you are finished click the Save/Apply button near the bottom of the page.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
