Setup WiFi on the Huawei EchoLife-HG8247

Beginning on the Status page of the Huawei EchoLife-HG8247 router click the choice at the top of the page labeled WLAN. Then tick the option of WLAN Configuration.

Change the WiFi Settings on the Huawei EchoLife-HG8247

On this new page, find the box labeled SSID Name. This is the name you create to identify your network. It's not important what you enter here but we suggest avoiding personal information. Get more details about this by reading our guide titled Wireless Names.

Now find the drop down menu titled Authentication Mode. This is your network security. We recommend choosing WPA2-PSK. If this is unavailable, you will need to update your firmware version to allow for it. Read our WEP vs. WPA guide for more information.

Next is the Encryption Mode. This should be set to AES.

Farther down the page is the box labeled WPA PreSharedKey. This is the password you use to gain access to your network. We highly recommend that you create a strong password here. Read our Choosing a Strong Password Guide for more information.

When you are finished click the Apply button.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
