Have you tried to login to the Huawei HG532f router without success? It might be time to consider a reset. In this guide when I use the term reset I am not referring to a reboot. When you reboot a device you are cycling the power to the unit. When you reset a device you are reverting all the settings back to factory defaults.

Warning: Resetting this device is a big step and should be thought through very carefully before continuing. We suggest making a list of all the settings that may of been changed since owning the router. These can include:

  • the router's main username and password.
  • the WiFi information such as SSID and password.
  • the Internet Service Provider (ISP) username and password. This information can be gathered by calling your ISP.
  • Have you made any other changes to your router. Write these down so you can reconfigure them after the reset is complete.

While the router is on, take a straightened paperclip and press down on the reset button for about 10 seconds. This starts the reset process which can take up to several minutes to complete. If you don't hold the reset button down for the entire 10 seconds you might end up only rebooting the router instead of resetting it.

Remember a reset is erasing every single setting you have ever changed in lifetime of this router. We strongly recommend trying other methods of troubleshooting before you continue.

Following that you'll want to set a new password for your router. Keep in mind that this password will only protect your router settings, not your wireless network.
