If you need to reset your Huawei HG532n router back to factory settings, then this article shows you how. This is a much bigger deal than a router reboot. Unplugging a router from the wall reboots it. However, when you reset a router you, return it back to its factory default settings.

Warning: This is not a step to be taken lightly. The following settings will be changed in your router:

  • The router's login credentials are reset.
  • Your WiFi login, password, and network name are reset.
  • All ISP settings will reset to default, and you may have to contact your ISP.
  • Any firewall settings, parental controls, or port forwards that you have configured will be removed.

Since a router reset is such a drastic step, it should only be done as a last resort when you cannot recover your router's password using any other methods. Make sure that you have tried to recover your router password using our Router Password Finder first.

A router reset should be the last thing you try if you are unable to login.

Reset the Huawei HG532n

There is usually a small reset button located on either the back or the bottom of a router. A typical reset button looks like this:

Router Reset Button

Yours may look slightly different, but they are usually tiny. If you find a pinhole on the back of the router then that may be the reset button. You will need a paper clip to push it.

Keep an eye on the lights on the front of your router while holding the reset button down for about 10 seconds. After a few seconds the lights should blink differently. When this happens, the reset is complete. You can hold the button down as long as you like, it will not hurt anything.

Keep in mind that this will completely reset your Huawei HG532n router.

This last step should only be taken if you have tried everything else, such as using our Router Password Finder software, which can recover lost or forgotten router passwords.
