How to Reset the Huawei HG630

On this page I will be showing you how to reset the Huawei HG630 router. This is not the same thing as a reboot. If you reboot the Huawei HG630 router it simply cycles the power to the unit. If you reset the Huawei HG630 router you take all the settings and return them all to factory defaults.

Warning: Resetting the Huawei HG630 is a big step and caution needs to be used. Make sure you know what settings are erased. Some of the settings that will need to be changed are:

  • The router's main username and password.
  • The Internet name and password.
  • If this is a DSL router you must re-enter the Internet Service Provider (ISP) username and password.
  • Have you made any other changes to this router? How about port forwards or IP addresses? These need to be reconfigured after the reset is finished.

Reset the Huawei HG630

While the router is on, take a straightened paperclip and press down on the button for about 10 seconds. This is important because if you don't you end up rebooting the router instead of resetting it like you wanted.

Please remember a reset is erasing every single setting you have ever changed in the lifetime of the device. We strongly recommend trying other troubleshooting techniques before you continue with the reset.

Login to the Huawei HG630

You now need to login to the Huawei HG630 router using the factory defaults. These are found in our Huawei HG630 Login Guide.

Tip: If the defaults didn't work try resetting it again but hold the reset button down for an additional few seconds.

Change Your Password

You now need to change the default password you just used to access the router. Use our Choosing a Strong Password guide to help you.

Tip: One way to avoid losing this password is to write it down on a piece of paper and attach it to the bottom of the router for future reference.
