Setup WiFi on the Huawei HG630

The Huawei HG630 router is considered a wireless router because it offers WiFi connectivity. WiFi, or simply wireless, allows you to connect various devices to your router, such as wireless printers, smart televisions, and WiFi enabled smartphones.

Before we get started there is a little bit of background info that you should be familiar with.

Login To The Huawei HG630

To get started configuring the Huawei HG630 WiFi settings you need to login to your router. If you are already logged in you can skip this step.

Find the WiFi Settings on the Huawei HG630

We begin this guide on the Home page of the Huawei HG630 router. To change your wireless network settings click Basic in the left hand side of the page and then WLAN beneath that. From there click the WLAN tab near the top of the page.

Start off by setting the Channel. Open the drop down menu and choose either 1, 6, or 11. Want to know why these are the best options? Read our WiFi Channels Guide.

Next you'll need to set an SSID. This will be your network name and can be whatever you like. However, due to security reasons we highly recommend avoiding the use of any personal information. For more help be sure to visit our Wireless Names Guide.

After that open the drop down list marked Security Mode and select WPA2-PSK. This option will provide you with the best security. Want to know why? Check out our WEP vs. WPA Guide to learn more.

Now you'll need to set the WPA Pre-Shared Key. This will serve as your network password and can be anything you want. However keep in mind that a strong password contains no personal information and is 14-20 characters in length. For more help be sure to take a look through our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.

Be sure that the WPA Encryption is set to AES.

Finally, make sure that the Enable WPS box is not checked.

That's it! You're finished. Just don't forget to click Submit to save your changes.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
