How to Reset the Huawei HG8245

Have you tried to login to the Huawei HG8245 router unsuccessfully? It might be time to consider a reset. This type of reset is not the same thing as a reboot. When you reboot something you cycle the power to the unit. When you reset something you take all the settings and return them all to factory defaults.

Warning: Resetting this router is a big step and should not be underestimated. We recommend making a list of the settings that have been changed in the history of this router. Consider the following:

  • The router's primary username and password used to access the interface are erased.
  • The Internet name and password are erased.
  • If this is a DSL router you need to re-enter the Internet Service Provider (ISP) username and password. Call your ISP for the details.
  • Have you made any other changes to the router? If so you need to reconfigure these after the reset is finished.

While the router is on take a straightened paperclip or other similar object and press down on the reset button for about 10 seconds. This begins the reset process which can take up to several minutes. If you don't hold this button down for the entire amount of time required to reset the Huawei HG8245 router you might end up only rebooting the router instead of resetting it like you wanted.

Login to the Huawei HG8245

Change Your Password

This can be anything you like, however keep in mind that a strong password is 14-20 characters in length and includes no personal information.
