Login To The Huawei HG8245

Find the WiFi Settings on the Huawei HG8245

After you have logged into the Huawei HG8245 you should begin on the Status page. From here, click the option at the top of the page labeled WLAN. Then tick the option on the left labeled WLAN Configuration.

Change the WiFi Settings on the Huawei HG8245

You should now be on the correct page to set the WLAN parameters.

  • In the box labeled SSID Name enter the new name you want for your wireless network. It really doesn't matter what you enter here but it is a good idea to avoid personal information. To learn more about this topic, read our guide titled How to Change your Wireless Name.
  • Scroll down and find the drop-down list titled Authentication Mode. Use the selection of WPA2-PSK. If this router doesn't have this option, we strongly recommend updating your firmware version to allow for it. Learn why by reading our guide titled WEP vs. WPA.
  • Set the Encryption Mode to AES.
  • Change the Pre-Shared Key. This is the password you use to gain access to your network. Don't use any personal information that could be easy to guess. Do use some symbols, numbers, and capital letters. Create a strong 14-20 character password. Learn more tips by reading our guide titled Choosing a Strong Password.
  • Click the Apply button.

That's it, you are finished.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
