How to Reset the Huawei SmartAX MT880

Have you been trying to login to the Huawei SmartAX-MT880v3 router unsuccessfully? It might be time to consider a reset. When you reset a router you are not rebooting it. A reboot is simply a cycle in the power to the unit. A reset is where you take all the settings and return them all to factory defaults.

Warning: Resetting the Huawei SmartAX-MT880v3 router is a big step and should not be taken lightly. Consider the following:

  • The router's main username and password are erased and reverted back to factory defaults.
  • Any port forwarding you have done is erased.
  • Any IP addresses you have changed in the past are erased.
  • Any other settings you have changed are erased and reverted back to factory defaults.

While the router is on take a straightened paperclip and press down on the reset button for about 10 seconds. If you don't hold the reset button down for long enough you might end up only rebooting the router instead of resetting it like you wanted.

Please remember a reset like this one you are about to do erases every single setting you have ever changed in the history of the device. We strongly recommend trying other troubleshooting methods before you continue.

Login to the Huawei SmartAX MT880

Tip: If the defaults aren't working for you it might be because the reset button wasn't held down for long enough.

Change Your Password
