Are you on this page because you have been trying to login to the Humax HG100R-L4 router without any success? It is probably time to seriously consider a reset.

There is a lot of confusion between a reset and a reboot. When you reboot a router you cycle the power to the unit. When you reset a router you take all the settings and return them to factory defaults. All your personal changes to this router are erased.

Warning: Every single setting you have ever changed is erased. It is a good idea to make a list of all the settings you may of changed in the past. These should include:

  • The username and password for the router user interface.
  • The WiFi SSID and Internet password.
  • Are you resetting a DSL router? You need to re-enter the Internet Service Provider (ISP) username and password. Call your ISP for the details.
  • What other settings have you changed?

Reset the Humax HG100R-L4

The Humax HG100R-L4 router has the reset button on the back panel like the image below shows. This little reset button is more of a pinhole.

First of all, make sure the router is on. Then take a straightened paperclip or similar object and press down on the reset button for about 10 seconds. This starts the reset process. If you don't hold the reset button down long enough you might end up only rebooting the router instead of resetting it like you wanted.

Warning: DO NOT unplug or turn off the router during the reset process. Doing so could result in permanent damage to the device.

Please remember a reset like this one will erase every single setting you have ever changed in the past. I strongly recommend trying other troubleshooting methods before you continue with this reset.

Login to the Humax HG100R-L4

After the reset is finished it is time to login to your Humax HG100R-L4 router. To do this you will need the default IP address, password, and username. This information has been included in our Login Guide for the Humax HG100R-L4 router.

Tip: If you are unable to login with the defaults the router might have not been properly reset. Try resetting it again but this time hold down the reset button for a little longer.

Change Your Password

After you successfully login to your router make sure that you change the password as soon as possible. Leaving the default password in place can put your router at risk. Try to make your new password unique. If you need help coming up with a secure password you can find some helpful advice in our Choosing a Strong Password guide.
