How to Reset the Inteno DG201A

On this page I will be showing you how to reset the Inteno DG201A router back to factory defaults.

There is a lot of confusion between the term reset and reboot. When you reboot something you simply cycle the power to the device. No settings are changed during a reboot. When you reset a router you take all the settings and return them all to factory defaults. Every setting you have ever changed is erased and replaced with the default settings.

Warning: Resetting this router is a big step and should not be taken lightly. We strongly recommend creating a list of all the settings you may of changed in the past. This could include:

  • The router's main username and password.
  • The WiFi username and password.
  • If this is a DSL router you need to re-enter the Internet Service Provider (ISP) username and password. Call your ISP for these details.
  • Have you ever forwarded any ports or changed any IP addresses? These need to be written down as well.

While the router is on take a straightened paperclip and press down on the reset button for about 10 seconds. This begins the reset process. If you don't hold the reset button down for the entire 10 seconds you might end up only rebooting the router instead of resetting it like you wanted.

Warning: Do not unplug or turn off the router during the reset process. Doing so could cause permanent damage to the unit.

Remember a reset like this one is going to erase every single setting you have ever changed in the lifetime of the Inteno DG201A router. Please consider other methods of troubleshooting before you continue.

Login to the Inteno DG201A

Now that you've reset the Inteno DG201A router you'll need to log into it. This is accomplished by using the factory default username and password. Not sure where you can find these? We have them listed for your use in our Login Guide.

Tip: If the defaults aren't working for you it could be because the reset button wasn't held down for long enough.

Change Your Password

Following that we suggest setting a new password for your router. This can be whatever you like, however keep in mind that a strong password includes no personal information and is 14-20 characters in length. For more help be sure to take a look through our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.

Tip: Keep from losing your new password by writing it on a sticky note and attaching it to the bottom of your router.
