You are now on a page labeled Wireless--Security. The top section of this page is dealing with WPS or WiFi Protected Setup. Some pretty big security holes have been found with networks that use this option. Read our guide titled What is WPS for more info on this topic. We recommend Disabling the setting titled Enable WSC. Disable the Enable Build-In Registrar also. Use the setting titled Set WSC AP Mode to Unconfigured.

Scroll down to the section labeled Manual Setup AP. In this section use the drop down list titled Select SSID to pick the SSID or Network Name you just created on the first page.

Next is the Network Authentication. This is the security you are going to use for your network. The most secure option is WPA2-PSK. If you want to know what this means and some of your other options, read our guide titled WEP vs. WPA.

Now look for a setting titled WPA Pre-Shared Key. This is the password you are going to use when accessing your local internet. It is a good idea to make a strong password that looks random and is at least 14 characters long. We have more tips for you in our guide titled Choosing a Strong Password.

The last thing you might want to change is the WPA Encryption. Make sure you set this to AES.

That's all there is to it, just click the Save/Apply button before you exit.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
