How to Reset the Linksys AG241

Have you tried to login to the Linksys AG241 router without success? It might be time to consider a reset. A reset is not the same thing as a reboot. When you reboot a router you are simply cycling the power to the unit. When you reset the router you are doing a full restore of all the settings back to factory.

Warning: Resetting the router is a big step and should not be taken lightly. We strongly recommend trying other troubleshooting methods before you continue. It's also a good idea to make a list of any possible settings you have changed in the past. These could include settings such as:

  • the router's main username and password.
  • any port forwarding you have done in the past.
  • any IP addresses you have changed.
  • parental controls you have in place.

Use a VPN Instead

While the router is on take a straightened paperclip or other similar object and press down on the button/pinhole for approximately 10 seconds. This starts the reset process which can take several minutes to complete. If you don't hold the reset button down for long enough you might end up simply rebooting the device instead of resetting it like you wanted.

Warning: Do not unplug or turn off the router during this process. Doing so may result in permanent damage to the device.

Don't forget a reset like this one is going to erase every single setting you have ever changed in the past. We strongly advise that you try other methods of troubleshooting first.

Login to the Linksys AG241

It is now time to login to the Linksys AG241 router. After a reset is complete you need to use the default username and password. Remember all settings have been erased. Tip: Don't panic if the default values didn't work. It is possible you didn't hold the reset button down for long enough. Try again but hold the reset button down for a bit longer.

Change Your Password
