You should now be on a new page.

We will be focusing in only the upper section, labeled 2.4 GHz.

Start by setting a Network Name. This can be anything you wish, but we recommend avoiding any personal information due to security reasons. To learn more, check out our Wireless Names Guide.

Now you'll need to set a Password. This too can be anything you like, however we recommend keeping it 14-20 characters in length and making sure not to include any personal information, again for security reasons. For more helpful tips on creating a strong password, see our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.

Next, open the drop down menu marked Security Mode and choose WPA2 Personal. This will provide you with the strongest security. Why? Read our WEP vs. WPA Guide to find out.

Finally, be sure the Channel is set to either 1, 6, or 11. To find out why these are the best options, take a look at our WiFi Channels Guide.

And that's all there is to it. Congratulations! Just make sure to click Apply before closing the page.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
