Have you been trying to login to the Linksys EA4500 router without success? It might be time to consider a reset.

A reset is not the same thing as a reboot. When you reboot something you are cycling the power to the unit. When you reset something you are taking all the settings and returning them all to factory defaults.

Warning: This reset is a big step and should not be taken lightly. We recommend making a list of possible settings you have changed in the past. These include the:

  • router's main username and password.
  • WiFi SSID and password for the Internet.
  • If this is a DSL router you need to re-enter the Internet Service Provider username and password. Call your local ISP for these details.
  • What other settings have you changed in the past? How about port forwards or parental controls?

While the router is on take a straightened paperclip and press down on the reset button for at least 10 seconds. This starts the reset process. If you don't hold the reset button down long enough you end up only rebooting the router instead of resetting it like you wanted.
